Reliable Vacuums???

Howdy everyone

I live in a one bedroom apartment with three cats and spring is right around the corner. Needless to say, I am in DESPERATE need for a high quality vacuum cleaner. I'm talking BIFL quality. I am a broke college student, so the cheaper the better but please still send me the ultra expensive items so I can look at them and cry over what could have been.
