The vet suspects my dog has torn his ACL, and is having a hard time getting an x-ray from him as he won't hold still and I'm not allowed in to help calm him down. She would like to get an x-ray soon, when he's under getting a very chipped tooth pulled, but the next available appointment for teeth stuff is mid April. I emailed asking her if there are any other ways we could calm him down enough for an x-ray and am also on a cancel list (if someone else cancels we get their spot), however I obviously do not enjoy seeing my sweet baby boy in pain and am wondering if anyone can recommend any good leg braces, tips, anything like that?
Currently he is taking supplements the vet suggested (cosequin and high omega fish oil) as well as an anti-inflammatory they have prescribed, we have also cut walking time down considerably (2+ miles a day to maybe 1/2 mile, maybe a longer walk once a week no more than a mile). He'll be six in June and he is a pit/husky mix, so holding still is difficult but we are trying to keep him calm and laying down as much as possible.
