She was so friendly and would meow and rub against the bars of her kennel for pets when I met her. She's been here for a bit over 24 hours (I know that's not a long time) but runs away anytime I even walk near her. She doesn't want any of the treats I have for her (gonna go to the pet store tomorrow for different kinds). She has played feather toy a little bit with me, and we've exchanged some sweet slow blinks. She explored the house fairly confidently and our other cat is being a very polite boy and giving her space (no hitting or yowling or anything between them just a couple hisses). Now she's laying in a cat house and has been for a few hours, I figure she's sleeping even though anytime I walk by and look she is staring at me in fright.
Is this normal? I've lived with lots of different cats my entire life, but this is an odd situation for me since this is not behavior I'd expect from such a seemingly outgoing cat. I can't get within 6 feet of her without her looking scared and running :( when I brought her home, she was crying in her carrier in the backseat so I put her carrier in my lap (I was front passenger) and petted her through the opening and that made her stop crying for the 20 min car ride. she's 6 years old, but when we adopted our current boy he was 8 and even though he hid under the bed for the first few days, he would still come out for treats and would let us love on him.
