I’ve had my cat for almost a year, and she’s just a little over one year old. For the entire time I’ve had her, she’s slept with me in my room no problem. However, starting about a month ago, the second I turn off the lights and turn on my fan to go to sleep, she gets crazy hyper. And I mean literally the second I do that. She was just hanging out with me in bed sleeping, and the minute I turned the lights off, she perked up and is now running around the room and meowing like crazy. This never used to bother her.
There have been a couple of big changes for her this last month, such as my ex moving out and me starting a full time job after being home for the entire pandemic. I totally thought that this could be the cause, however she wasn’t really close with my ex and her day to day interaction with people hasn’t really changed.
I got her melatonin treats and I give them to her pretty much every night, and she usually calms down and sleeps after eating them, but she seems to be tired of them and won’t eat them anymore.
I love her to death, but this is driving me crazy! Even when I play with her right before bed, it doesn’t help. We also have another cat in the apartment, and they rough house with each other all day.
Any tips??? Being woken up right as I’m dozing off every single night sets me up for some pretty lousy sleep ):
