My kitten is about 5 months (we believe as she was a found kitty) and has been doing great so far! Not the pickiest eater, but slowly started refusing dry food and eating only wet. I practice free feeding at this moment because she was so underweight when I first got her. I just noticed the dry food going uneaten.
I had to work a 10.5 hour shift yesterday, so when I went home on my lunch break to feed her I left out some dry food too just in case she got hungry while I was gone the extra time after lunch.
When I got home she had completely covered her wet food bowl form last feeding, and started chowing down on the dry food. I revealed her bowl to show she still had some wet food and she than started eating that before I could even clean it up!
She than ate dinner later! And had a normal poop last night.
This morning I woke up to a smelly litter box one regular poop, and than one much softer poop- for lack of a better description the consistency of a melted chocolate bar still in its package. Not full blown diarrhea, but not her normal poops she’s been doing. This is the first time this has happened since I brought her home.
She has a vet appointment tomorrow for boosters, and i’m going to take in whatever she poops tonight or tomorrow for the sample. She ate breakfast this morning, and played our routine 20 minute chase the cat lure.
Could it be she just got an upset stomach from randomly THROWING DOWN quite a bit of dry food randomly yesterday as well as perhaps having a bit too much to eat overall? Yesterday her appetites seemed huge so I fed her accordingly but it may have been too much
