Hello,
The other day a stray dog has made it up to my yard. My sister and I tried finding it's owner but with no luck. We took it to the vet and it isn't spayed or chipped. She's a very sweet and friendly dog and we would definitely consider adopting it but we have a huskimo (half husky, half American Eskimo) who is 7 years old, not neutered, and very aggressive towards dogs he doesn't know. Like, almost escape harness aggressive. We don't know what he'd do if he got close, but from a distance he screams and barks at other dogs. He's lived with multiple dogs just fine so it's definitely possible to get him acclimated to one more, but we just don't know how. So we have a few questions.
-
Would neutering him help at all with his aggressiveness?
-
What's the best way to get the male huskimo to not be so aggressive when meeting this dog?
-
The stray jumps our fence. If we adopted her, is there anything we can do to stop her from doing that without modifying the fence?
There is probably more that I'm forgetting but these are the major ones. We don't think it's even realistic to adopt her, but we are considering it and our options. Thank you all.
