To any cat owners please be careful with SOOS Natural Dead Sea Mineral Enriched Pet Rescue Cream For Dogs & Cats.
I will start off by saying that my cat has never ever been sick with any previous conditions or had any severe diarrhea followed by constipation in his entire 7 years of life.
The following events took place during this week:
On Monday evening I applied a dime sized amount of Soos Rescue Cream on my cat to relieve some cracked skin.
Like any animal the cat began licking some of the cream off for a few minutes — eventually he cleaned himself off.
On Tuesday I noticed very watery diarrhea in the litter box. Diarrhea continued throughout Tuesday (4-5 times) eventually hardening up to mayonnaise consistency (still very soft).
Throughout Tuesday I also noticed the cat seemed a little low energy / not as hungry.
While trying to figure out why the cat had these symptoms it occurred to me that maybe there could’ve been something in the Soos Rescue Cream that could have made his stomach upset.
Upon taking a closer look at the ingredients in Soos Rescue Cream I came across 7 ingredients in this product that are toxic to cats:
ALOE BARBADENSIS (ALOE VERA), OREGANUM VULGARE LEAF (OREGANO) OIL, EUCALYPTUS CITIODORA LEAF OIL, ONION, MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA (TEA TREE) OIL, MARIS SAL (SEA SALT), BORAGO OFFICINALIS (BORAGE) SEED OIL.
I monitored the cat throughout Tuesday and on Wednesday his mood was better but not fully back to 100% himself.
I decided to include some pumpkin in his wet food to help his digestive system.
Wednesday the cat ate fine but he has yet to go to the bathroom for number 2. He has only went pee. Mood started improving.
Throughout Thursday his behaviour was normal — regular eating and activities resumed although still no bowel movement. No poo.
We decided to give him another 24 hours since maybe the diarrhea emptied his bowels out quite a bit. Still nothing.
This brings us to right now today Friday morning. Still no poo. Currently waiting on a vet/animal hospital appointment in order to further diagnose this issue.
Posting this about Soos Rescue Cream because I am almost 100% positive this cream f*cked my cat up. What kind of irresponsible company makes a cream like this knowingly without double checking the ingredients to see if they are safe for consumption by cats when the cream itself is meant to be for cats?
I guess it’s also my fault for not throughly going through each and every ingredient but aside from the fancy packaging that makes the cream seem like it’s extremely safe, natural, & pet friendly the employee at the pet store was also recommending this cream as their #1 cream when I asked them what I can use on my cats paws.
How can a company be so careless and a pet store employee have absolutely no knowledge of the kind of product they are selling / recommending to pet owners? Disgusting.
I feel absolutely terrible. All of Tuesday and some of Wednesday my poor cat was not acting like himself and suffering with digestion complications.
I am extremely upset by this and will be contacting Soos Dead Sea Products For Pets and letting them know about this situation and the ingredients in their cream.
Please do not apply this cream on your cats.
