Slight vent - I’m not going to lie, it has been tough and I’m running out of things to try. It’s all been very stressful seeing my 1 Yr old Shiba go through whatever this allergic reaction is.
Ever since I got my Shiba as a puppy she had always itched, and it has just become progressively worse, till now where it’s at the point that she’s getting infections from breaking her skin due to constant itching..
Only way to stop it is by putting her in a cone and even that sucks cause I see how miserable she is and then she starts acting weird and hiding in random corners because she can’t get to her itch, it’s really sad.
I’ve literally tried all of the following: - washing dog bed - new dog bowls (stainless steel) - adding fish oil to food - getting pet purifier - medicated shampoo bath (just once) - anti itch spray - anti itch lotion - bravecto (vet prescribed) - steroids (vet prescribed) - cytopoint shot (vet) - oral antibiotics for infections - new kibble (Victor grain free)
We have literally been to the vet over 10 times and it’s just getting too expensive (about $180 a visit) so I’ve been doing research online with multiple forms
My last thing to try is a whole new diet starting with just rice and 1 source of protein (currently beef)
I know these trials are going to take some time but it’s the last thing I can think of. It just sucks to have her in this cone and miserable throughout the whole thing.
Any advice or suggestions is much appreciated. Thank you
