Please help - out of options with an itchy cat

Hello!

So my male cat (about 11 yrs old) had fleas last year. He is a completely indoor cat and I grew up with two other cats that never had fleas and never got flea medicine so I didn't know it was a possibility for them to get it.

Anyway, ever since March of last year when he got them, he's been on preventative flea medicine. He's currently on revolution plus, every month.

The issue is - After all of the preventative flea medicine each month, cleaning our house meticulously, spraying our yard and spraying our house, I thought the issue would be over. I even had a flea light out for quite a while to make sure I didn't see any and I didn't for a long time.

However, ever since that "ended" or so I thought, he's still itchy and licks himself ALL THE TIME. The places he scratches the most are inside of his ears, behind his ears, in front of them, and then his face & neck also.

He lixks pretty much everywhere on his body, but a lot on his paws, butt, base of tail, his whole tail etc. But also licks his back and stomach.

More recently I noticed too that he has a kind of tick in his head that makes his head tick from side to side, and then he usually scratched his head.

I've taken him to a dermatologist for cats and also just my regular vet and they have said that they didn't see anything regarding fleas and he probably just has allergies.

But my thing is (and I know I'm not the expert here but hear me out) I don't think that's right. Here's what I'm thinking: We got rid of the majority of the fleas, and he is on flea medicine so if they bite him, they will die which is great, but that doesn't prevent them from wanting to bite him and thus making him itchy all the time.

He's literally scratching and licking just like he was when we had a good amount of fleas.

I just don't know what to do. Can he wear a flea collar on top of getting the preventive flea medicine? That way the flea collar will deter the fleas in the first place to not even want to bite him or get near him?
