Looking for recommendations for things to buy for a first time cat owner!

Hey everyone,

I've always wanted a pet, but have been scared of the responsibility because I wasn't financially ready, until now.

I'm looking to find a cat, but I'm not sure what all I should buy before I adopt. I also am not aware of what brands of anything are to be trusted or not, such as foods.

I can easily Google but I'd rather have real people tell me their experiences, good and bad.
