My cat was diagnosed with diabetes last week and I've been giving him 1 unit of insulin every 12 hours with his food. He has completely returned to normal in terms of his behavior and happiness, the only problem that persists is that he still continues to urinate outside of the litter box. When I picked him up from the SPCA the assistant that handed him to me told me that this behavior should stop immediately, but I've been having to clean up puddles of urine twice a day outside of the litter box. I left them a message, but they are usually pretty slow to respond so I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this problem. He was checked for a UTI while he was there so that isn't it. Is this something that is going to disappear further into the treatment or should I still be concerned?
