About half a year ago, I moved to my girlfriends house to live with her and her two (lovely) cats. In the beginning, there was no issue. I remember cat A once peed on my clothes who were laying around in the bedroom. I googled for this behavior and this could be "normal" because she sees me as an intruder.
Ok, accidents can happen, and months moved by, but the pee problem became worse and worse. At this point, we are forced to close every door (bedroom, bathroom, office room) or she pees on things laying around. I constantly have to check there are no objects laying on the floor or she pees on them.
Her favorite pee items are: bed mattress, clothes, sofa, blankets, jackets, laptop, backpacks etc.
I suspect it's always cat A who does the peeing. At one point, my girlfriends was out of town and she peed on me while I was sleeping. Not directly but with her shaking out, I felt some liquid on my face. We always discover the peeing when cat B is around us while cat A is nowhere to be seen.
We have a lot of arguments and discussions about it. I blamed my girlfriend for not cleaning the litter boxes in time. When looking up the problem, this was mentioned often. We can rule this out because last time she peed on something while having a freshly cleaned litter box. We have 4 litter boxes for two cats. (two are outside on the terrace where they can walk)
I think the problem became worse after cat A became sterilized but I'm not sure. Recently, we had her blood checked by the vet. We got the results and all looked good. My girlfriend was advised to buy some stress reliver thing you have to plug in the electrical circuit. (which I think is nonsense and only cost money, but ok).
Here we are now, having her checked with the vet but he doesn't see a problem. But the problem is still there, I just discovered two other objects she peed on and I can't take it anymore. I do love both cats but one is really terrorizing our life and it puts a lot of stress on our relationship. If it was up to me, I would do cat A away, but this is no option for my girlfriend. It would be heartbreaking for me aswel, but something has to change, because this is not live able.
