So my dog has been the center of my world for a long time. A few months ago I started seeing a woman seriously for the first time in a while. Lately she's been staying over at my place quite a bit. Bodie is a 10 year old 90 lb mixed breed with a surprising amount of energy and he really gets along great with her. But every time we touch or make contact or cuddle he'll bark or try to get attention anyway he can. He doesn't show any signs of aggression, but I don't want to unknowingly encourage or promote the behavior.
My reaction has been mostly to ignore him and he usually will calm down after about a half hour or so, but sometimes I don't want to go through that and will put him in another room. Am I doing the right thing? Is there anything else I can do to help him not be so needy? Should I be worried that he'll get aggressive?
If anyone has any experience or knowledge I would really appreciate any input. I just really want this to get better not worse over time.
