Hey so i’m confused about how i should be feeling and if i should do anything
Basically my roommate got a 3 week kitten and now he’s 5 weeks old. She got it to share with her boyfriend who has a large dog and she told us the kitten would stay at his house but I guess they determined that it wasn’t good for them to be together so now the kitten stays at my apartment. I’ve taken care of a 5-12 week kitten before and I love cats so I was excited except for the fact that she rehoused a 4 year old cat last year and neglected him so much for her boyfriend. We got into a huge fight over it because I would be constantly checking on the cat for her and asking her about him. While I understand it came off like I was questioning her ability to watch him, I was just trying to do what was best for this cat! He was literally the sweetest cat i’ve ever met and all he seemed to want was attention but she’d only come home to feed him. She literally wouldn’t clean his litter box for weeks at a time and I obviously complained about that, his water bowl was always dirty or empty and she would just free feed him a ridiculous amount to the point he became overweight !! Finally after fighting for about a month and having him for 4 months she rehoused him. Now, she has a baby kitten !!??? She used to bring the kitty back and forth from bf house to our house but now she just leaves that kitty here for ~12 hours at a time so she can sleep his house, + hours she’s at work or school. Her room is constantly messy (rolling papers, weed, food on her bed, plugged in electronics with wires he’s obviously gonna bite). And today i went to check on the kitty and he was trying to eat from his empty bottle so i fed him kmr but at this point he should be getting weaned to solid food, have water at all times, have real toys and have gone to the vet (like does she even know these things she doesn’t even feed him from the bottle correctly she holds him up :((((((() it makes me so upset how i have to constantly check on this living baby animal in my home that i didn’t want here (and although i do love cats and want one someday- he is not mine and i have way too much anxiety over his well-being and i’m too scared to say anything bc another fight will arise)
oof sorry this was def in rant format i needed to get this off my chest i just want the kitty to have better :(
