I am honestly disappointed at the advice my wife got on reddit. About 3 months ago, she posted that our dog was showing signs of aggression with resource guarding towards our other dogs and our baby even with training (and the trainer was the one who suggested rehoming). She was asking for advice on re-homing, but instead got bashed about how she is a horrible dog mom, how can she do this to her dog, give up on the dog, and trainers advertising how they can completely make this problem go away. That was followed by telling her she needs to see a vet and a pet behaviorist. So thats exactly what she did, went against her instinct, had a behaviorist come twice a week to help train since we work full time for about 3 months while the vet did a health clearance. There was some signs of improvement, but we were still strict with physical barriers like they advised. We still had this instinct that we needed to re-home but the pet community bashing her made her feel guilty. Well flash forward to yesterday, in a split second, our dog somehow escaped his area, bit my other dog in the neck (my dog bled out and didnt make it), and attacked our 8 month olds face who now is in the hospital with severe permanent injuries. Now we have to euthanize our dog. I understand there are some hardcore dog lovers here but bashing someone for trying to keep their other pets or children safe, that’s messed up.
