Advice for what to do with my noisy dog in a new apartment?

First off, I want to say the backstory for this is a little heavy. If you aren’t in a position to read something like that then please look elsewhere, take care of yourself before you take care of someone online 💙

We got our dog seven(ish) years ago when he was a couple months old and he’s lived with me and my parents his entire life. My mom would work, I went to school, and my dad worked on-and-off from home, so he was always at the house. My dog has rarely ever been in a situation where he was home alone.

But, in September of this year my dad passed away after losing his battle with cancer. It was an incredibly hard time in both me and my moms lives, and we wanted to put a lot of it behind us by moving out of our house and into an apartment for just over a year, with hopes to move back into a house afterward.

My mom and I are both marvel nerds so we went to see the new Spider-Man movie as soon as we could, which was an 11:40 pm showing. When we return home we find that someone has taped a letter to our door saying that our dog constantly barks whines and howls while we are away, and they threatened to take it up with the main office if it continues.

We knew our dog was dramatic and would bark at someone if they knocked on our door at our house, or he’d whine at us if he saw us leaving, or he’d make a whole lot of noise if we were coming home after being gone a while (he’s very excitable). But we had no idea he was as bad as the author of the letter said he was, and now we don’t know what to do. My mom still works and I’m going to be seeking employment very soon, which means we can’t be home with him all the time. He’d always had someone home when my dad was alive but unfortunately that isn’t the case anymore.

The author of the letter did offer the ideas of either daycare or a sitter, but neither of those things would work if we wanted to go and do something at night or on special occasions. And we don’t really have anyone that would be able to take him, either temporarily or during the time we are in our apartment.

Neither me or my mom want to get rid of our dog, we love him very very very much and it would kill us if we had to get rid of him because he cries when he misses us. I guess I’m just asking for advice or suggestions on what to do?
