Last weekend we noticed our dog had a lot less energy and his belly was hard. We took him to the vet and they said he had bladder crystals. Recommended this Urinary SO dry food and antibiotics. He absolutely hated the dry food, so we switched to a wet food equivalent, and he would down the stuff greedily. Throughout the week he’d be up and down, usually worse in the evening, but fine in the morning. He pees normally (no blood), and at least was eating fine (although we drinking water less and less). Thursday night we were scared because he was shaking, not moving, and his belly was rock hard. It also almost felt like there was an organ that was bulging by his tummy. We had a vet make a night visit and all she could do was give us some pain meds. I stayed home to monitor him Friday and he seemed to be doing much better. His belly was soft, his energy was back, and he ate his food. But Saturday he started his usual signs of hard belly and low energy. He would still go on a walk, but moved at a snail’s pace. It has now been 24 hrs and he won’t eat even his wet food or drink. I’ve given him pain meds in case he’s not eating because he’s in so much pain, but I don’t know what else to do. He doesn’t even seem to sleep, he just lays down. We’re taking him to the vet, but we just don’t have much money until this coming paycheck. Is there something simple I can do to get him to eat or drink until at least tomorrow morning?
