Male kitten (6 months) panting after playing with laser for the first time?

We just got our laser toy for our cats and while our female cat seems to show no interest in it, our male cat is absolutely hooked up and even now while I‘m typing is searching for the red laser point. He seems to enjoy it a lot but I also noticed that he‘s panting for a few seconds and looking for it. is this normal? Is the laser too „fun“ or exciting for him?? I plan to not play a lot with it but im worried regardless. Is it because its his first time seeing something like this and he’s being overhyped right now? Infos appreciated 😊

Unnecessary i still wanted to add because its cute: while our male cat is obsessed with the laser, the female one is currently obsessed with out new mouse toys. We had to buy new ones because she would hide them at unreachable places and then never get them again.. 😆
