One of my cats died a bit ago, Is this enough time for introducing a new cat in a house?

(tldr at bottom)

So, when I got my cats, Nyx and Loki, ingot them both when they were kittens from the same litter around 8 weeks. They were always together,.played together, slept together everyday and life for them was pretty good I'd say. Originally I was living with my parents so when I was out there was always soemone there.. Then I moved out to live on my own and was working from home. I'd leave a window open all the time for them to go in and out when I was in and had a litter box inside for when I was out or at night.

After a while I moved onto a catflap in the door as I changed jobs and I am out 5 days a week now.

Sadly, about a month ago one of my cats was hit by a car and died. Consider where I live this is very quiet, the roads are not that busy (there's also lots of other cats in the area) I'd consider the area safe for cats and this was sadly just a freak accident. It was heart breaking, with Nyx gone Loki clearly became depressed. He is doing a little better now but he has changed a lot. He used to be independent, he'd often be out hunting or exploring, he'd come home for food and sleep and that was about it. Nyx would come and go all day, but she'd sleep with me, play, follow me about, watch me and so on. Very affectionate. Every since this, Loki has become what Nyx used to be..he spends a lot more time inside with me when I am at home, sleeps more inside, loves attention a lot more. It's the only silver lining of the event.

But, I got two cats so they'd have a friend at home for when I am out. I obviously never expected this to happen. So now, now things have settled, I want to get a second cat again so he has a friend. I'd probably get another female so I don't have 2 males, and I would ideally like to get a younger cat as Loki is still only ~18 months. But i no longer work from home, I am out most days from around 6:45am - 4-5pm. So this isn't really enough time for me to be at home to look after a new cat. However, I have a week off over Christmas which would be ideal. But, would a week at home be enough time for a new cat.to settle In before I go back to my job? I'd plan on getting a cat hopefully 6 months - 18 months. Young enough so it could get to know Loki and be friends while still been young and also so Loki doesn't feel threatened by a new older cat coming into the house. I am hoping with it been a young Cat, Loki would recognise this and take to it as well.
Is a week long enough do you think?.

Tldr : I originally got 2 cats, but 1 was killed. Now want to get another cat so my cat (18months male) has a friend when I'm out again. (They used to get along really well, siblings from same litter). Im out at work now 7am-5pm with new job. Is one week off at home enough time to introduce a new cat?
