Cat won't use litter box

When we first got him, he would use the litter box. Although he would not squat to pee, so the pee would spray outside the litter box.

We decided to get a litter box with a hood so when he does pee standing up it would stay in the litter box. He used this no problem.

Then my nephew has been staying with us. He locks the cat in the room all night. So since he locked in the room all night, he was essentially trained to pee anywhere. Now he doesn't use the litter box anymore.

How do I retrain him to use the box? I pick him up and put him in the box. He would rather pee everywhere else. Now my house smells like cat pee and every day I'm finding new places he pees.

P.S. I took the door off my nephew room since he doesn't listen to "Don't lock the cat in your room"
