A while back on an account I have since deleted, someone asked about training their dog and I recommended Richard Wolters. A lot of people went off on me for recommending his training methods even though they work very well.

Every dog I have ever had has been trained with the methods he wrote about in his books. Many of the people I know with their own dogs also train their dogs using the methods he wrote about. I would have to guess that the people who did the internet equivalent of yelling at me for recommending Richard Wolters really don't know much about his training methods and if they want to know about it, all they need to do is go to a library and/or buy a book from a store or online and read. The people who have used the methods in his books have had some of the best trained dogs and best behaved dogs I have ever come across and many other people have come across. People can get as mad as they want about Richard Wolters and keep their dogs which may not be quite as well trained as they would be if you used at least a few of Richard Wolters methods to train them. That is completely your choice and your own issue. I will keep my dogs who have been trained with those methods who know voice and whistle commands as well as hand signals, won't move a muscle without command to move or that it is okay to move out of their own will, will retrieve what I send them out to retrieve pretty much regardless of distance as long as I don't call them back before they get there due to not wanting them to get too far out to hear the whistle commands, don't jump on anyone ever, will listen to my command regardless of if I set food out for them or have some other distraction going on somewhere around them, and so on.

Since I among many other people know how well his training methods work, I don't feel a need to argue with anyone about it and won't respond to anyone who may once again do the internet equivalent of yelling. I would just hope that if you are one of those people who would do that that you go and read a bit of Richard Wolters books to actually gain knowledge on what he says to do, go meet some people and their dogs who use his methods to train which can show you how well it works, and/or perhaps use a bit of the training yourself to see how well it can work. If you are one of those people who may want to pretty much yell and/or fight about it like some people did in the past and don't want to at all look into it, I would recommend just moving on and not waste your time, my time, or anyone else's time who would have used the methods if you hadn't acted like that and tried to make it look like a very bad thing when it is not at all a bad way to train dogs.
