Summary: Tried everything I can think of but cutting my cat’s claws is still a nightmare
I took this cat directly off the street after feeding her for seven months. She’s adjusted wonderfully to most of indoor life but cutting her claws has been near impossible. She struggles and fights the whole time, and nips and scratches. I’m lucky if I get two claws at once.
Right now her claws are like little daggers and I just need them cut. In the past I’ve tried slowly warming her up, but she is super fidgety. Whenever I bring out the treats, she gets off-the-walls excited and she thinks I’m giving her treats when I touch her paws. She used to fall asleep in bed with me, so when she was super tired, I’d cut the claws. Now she refuses to come on the bed and goes on high alert if I approach her while she’s sleeping. So now I just try to grab her and do it quick, which never goes well.
I feel super stuck. I interact with her claws a lot: she wrestles with my hands, and she steps on me to wake me up. I have scratches on my freakin boobs, and I don’t sleep topless. Please help, I just want to make this a painless experience for us both.
Edit: no idea why this is tagged “aww”
