Tonight Olive starting choking on a treat I gave her and then started gagging/choking and didn’t seem to be breathing. I proceeded to hit her on the back a couple times and picked up her front half and tried to do a sort of Heimlich maneuver on her. It seemed to work and she stopped choking but she now seems to be scared/nervous around me. It probably didn’t help that I was quite panicked in the situation and that probably freaked her out too. We are best friends and she sleeps in my bed with me every night. How do I help her know that I was just trying to help her and make her not scared anymore? Also what is the correct procedure for helping a choking dog?
