How to sedate a skittish cat for grooming?

Ashe is a 3yo Manx/Maine Coon mix with impossibly long and plush fur. Seriously, she's like a collie and a chinchilla hybrid. I adopted her in February and she HAAAAAATES being brushed. No matter of treats will help, and somehow she goes from 7 lbs to 70 when we try to hold her down to brush/trim mats on her stomach and under arms. She's mauled four people over it. She doesn't hd still for even a moment of you touch her tummy. These mats appear very quickly and are massive. Mostly a daily brushing can help, but she won't let me touch her tummy.

Is there somewhere slightly cheaper than the vet (wants $100 to sedate and groom) to take her that won't stress her out too badly? She's not skittish but she hates when I'm not with her.

Thanks for the help!!!
