Would building a cardboard fort keep my curious kitten from getting into trouble?

My two kittens have been here about a week, and they've settled in. They have plenty to play with, a huge cat tower, lots of places to hide in.

One of them, though, loves to get into trouble by exploring. She tries to escape my room (no door) so I had to velcro the curtains I use as a door together and to the wall. She just now got herself stuck behind some dressers that I have pushed against a bar/table. There is like 3 inches of space between the top of the dresser and the table ledge and she jumped down and couldn't get out until I moved the dresser because she can't jump out the way she went in.

I want to try and give her something that will satisfy her urge to explore and climb but that is safe for her. Right now she really just has the cat huts and beds, and behind chairs and under my bed as good options for exploring.

I was thinking putting together boxes and cutting holes to make a kind of maze/fort she can wander around in and explore might work. And I can change it around every now and again to keep it new and interesting. Does this seem like it would be effective in redirecting her and stop her from getting into places (or trying to) that she shouldn't?
