would like to adopt a cat to help cope with my depression; realistically how much should I expect to spend?

I would like to adopt a cat (preferably an older one), but before I go out and adopt, what is a realistic budget that I should be expecting to spend on a cat per week/month/year? Since I plan on adopting obviously the cat is already going to be spayed/neutered and it would already have its vaccines up to date. I also still have a few supplies from when I fostered cats and kittens during my college days. I work at a vet hospital where they have a wellness plan for approximately $400/year and covers all the basics and office visits are $45 so I can always just take my cat to my workplace when I need to for exams and vaccines and stuff, as well as a cat-only hospital in a nearby city that I can also possibly take it to.

Also how much should I set aside in emergency funds? And what pet insurance is best?
