My kitty is pretty sick and i’ve been monitoring his temp. He is a siberian so he has a 3 layered coat (thicker than most cats) and i have been taking his temperature axillary (under his armpit)

I know rectal is the gold standard but he hates to sit still. Do you think the fact that he has a triple layered coat could throw off the temperature readings and make them higher than they really are? Before anyone asks he’s been to the vet 3 times over the past 4 days and got some meds. We are preparing for more tests if he still is not improving by tomorrow
