Want a new kitten but not sure if it will get along with my current cat.

I’ve been really wanting another cat for a while now. I have been thinking about it for the past year and I want to start looking for another kitten to add to the family.

The problem is, I have a 6 year old female cat who is very very picky about what other animals she likes and dislikes so I’m not sure if she would even like a new kitten if I got one. She has gotten along with cats in the past but only certain ones. When I was living with my parents she got along with their two male cats and would even go hunting outside with one of them. Then my sister moved back Into the house with her 3 cats and my cat absolutely hated them. I moved out a year ago and now my cat is happy as can be and is strictly indoors. She doesn’t get along with other female cats and she doesn’t like playing with other cats.

I know I need to be looking for a male cat and I know it needs to be a somewhat lazier cat but how can I tell that from a kitten? Kittens tend to be playful anyway, but is there any telltale signs that the cat will be less playful when it gets older?

Also, any advice on how to ingrate a new kitten into the household would be helpful. What’s the best way to introduce new pets? How long should I expect until they get used to each other?
