Are blind dogs conscious of said state?

Hi all,

My 5yo pug just lost sight on both of her eyes due to some injuries suffered while playing with her big “sister”. It makes me really sad to see her as she currently is and I don’t want her to suffer. While I hope we find a way for her to maintain a healthy and happy life, I don’t know if I’m overly humanizing her experience. Do you think she is capable of being conscious of her own blindness?
