Tonight I saw a fox in my backyard. I have two cats, one of them is a bigger kitten so he is kept in the house for tonight because I am scared for him. Later during the night when I called my cats to come inside, my kitten came all scared and a few seconds later I heard fox killing neighbor's chickens. It sounded awful and was going on for like 4 or 5minutes, I went inside of the house with my cats and then 5 minutes later I heard two shots from the outside, I don't know who shot them but I guess they were aiming for the fox, 10 minutes later I decided to go outside to see what happened and as I opened my door fox was standing literally less than a meter away from me and run away on my balcony as I closed my door and went back in the house.
I am scared for safety of my cats. Especially the little one. They are both outside and inside cats, I have a nice backyard and surroundings for them to be and I don't want to keep them only inside, I mean, tbh I also really can't because they become unbearable if they are only inside and I need to let them out them. I am afraid that the fox will keep coming back to my yard, I have a bowl with water for cats outside and also I keep their dry food outside so that they have something to eat if they are out at the night and become hungry. I am scared of their safety and that fox will keep coming to my yard because of the water and the food, should I be worried? My backyard is pretty much an open concept as most of the neighborhood's yards also are so I guess it is pretty easy for a fox to roam around.
