My cat comes up to me just to bite me. Is this normal?

The other day I was sitting on the couch, and my cat jumped up just to bite me. I know cats will bite sometimes when they're tired of being petted. Previously, I was drinking water and she just ran up and bit me. This is my first cat. One of my friends told me that one of her cats has done this before. My cat only randomly goes up and bites me. She doesn't do this to my husband. She also bites if we don't give her food when she begs, but that's just because she's a fatty.
