How long does IV rehydration take for cats?

Hello, my poor kitty has vomited a bunch yesterday morning and hasn't eaten or drank anything since. Took him to the emergency vet and they are keeping him for 24 hours for IV rehydration. Does anyone know if this is a normal length of time for this? He gets so stressed at the vet and I hate leaving him that long. Ive had it where the vet gave a 500 ml sub q bolus over 20 minutes. It's gonna cost 1100$ and just wondering if this is a normal amount of time for it.
