My dog's bday

Hey everyone,

I am writing for the first time on reddit as I needed opinion from you all on something which is making me feel terrible.

So day before yesterday was my dog's first b'day which is coincidentally on the same day as my late mother's b'day who passed away couple of years ago.

Since this had always been a very joyous day for me since childhood, I thought let me relive those days again.

I clicked a photograph of my mother's photo and my doggo in the same frame with a cake. It was a very emotional moment for me as it brought back so many memories from childhood.

I shared that pic with my family and some of my mother's very close friends. One of my mother's friend came back stating that this a very offensive photograph and how could I as a son do such a thing.

It kind of hit me really hard that am I actually a terrible son?

Please tell me your opinion if I have done something wrong here.
