It seems like, whenever I go to a pet store or something, the betta fish are always isolated in these tiny containers with lids on them.
Like, it literally looks like a fish prison.
They've got no room to swim around in, they don't have any other fish to interact with, and I don't even know if that amount of water is safe for a fish to reside in. Goldfish, the rule is to have a gallon for every square inch of fish. This is definitely nowhere near a gallon, and it makes me worry if they're miserable in here.
It almost reminds me of those keychains with live baby turtles.
On the other hand, I'm not a betta fish, and I know that our levels of comfort are different. But still, being a fish that's designed to take on bodies of water, I feel like I'd be distraught to be in what is essentially a cup of water. Maybe?
Do they hate it? Or is it just me personifying the fish?
