I got my first cat about 1.5 years ago, at 6 weeks of age. She was super sweet and lovable, but not very socialized. I live by myself and didn't have a lot of visitors when she was young. I ended up getting 2 sibling kittens about 9 months ago to try to get her to at least socialize with other cats. While that worked well, she still doesn't get along with humans.
She was always sweet with me, but lately her personality has changed. The other day I had my 5 y.o. niece over, who has cats at her place too, and my cat was growling at her. I tried to reach for my cat to pet her and calm her down, and she just grabbed my hand with her claw and scratched the shit out of me. She's been known to hiss and snap at strangers, but she's never been hostile towards me.
I've been fostering kittens lately, and I'm afraid she's setting a bad example for them, as most of the fosters need socialization as well. Not just that, but she's been getting super aggressive lately for no reason. I've tried to give her extra attention, to let her know she's not being replaced, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.
I feel so sad even thinking about surrendering her to a shelter(if I did she would go to a no-kill shelter/sanctuary). But I don't know how to deal with her almost constant aggression...
Please help me!
