I adopted a 1-year old female cat this past Friday from the Humane Society. She had just gotten her shots and spay surgery done last week and has been wearing a cone around her neck. She's been adjusting well to the apartment; she seems to get along with my other cat and has been making her way around just fine. She doesn't seem to be scared/in hiding.
However, I've noticed that she just likes to... sit around all day. She will play when I engage it, but she has really shown no interest in playing with my other cat. She doesn't seem all too responsive either, like I will call for her and make noises but she won't even bat an ear. Sometimes she will just stare at a wall. I'm wondering if she's just hurting from her stitches and doesn't want to move too much.
Of course, she could just be a naturally low-energy/chill cat. I just kind of find her temperament a little different because I've had a handful of cats (even "shy" ones) and none have been as low-energy as this one, especially in their new home/a new environment. She's young too so I kind of expected her to be more alert and engaging. Has anyone else brought home a cat like this?
