Long story short, I have a dachshund that is 11 years old that I've had since she was about 8 weeks old. She is my world.
She had a dachshund (male) friend that she grew up with that we unfortunately lost in 2018. I adopted a 9 year old dachshund (male) in 2019 that we unfortunately lost yesterday.
I know that I'm still in shock about the recent loss and I don't plan on making any household changes anytime soon so that both her and I can cope with the loss, my question is this:
Does she need another friend to keep her company? I worry about her loneliness, especially when this whole pandemic thing is over and I stop working from home.
I've read conflicting things. Some articles say that all dogs are pack animals and having a second dog is almost always a good thing to help with loneliness and boredom. I've also read that senior dogs don't really need another dog around. What do you all think? Any expert advice on the matter?
