My cat is getting Pyometra surgery and I’m so worried for her.

It started as a normal vet visit only for them to tell me she was never spayed and needs pyometra surgery to remove her uterus. ( she’s a stray cat we just took in). She looks a little old maybe over 14 years and I’m so worried for her. They suggested immediate surgery as her condition can be fatal and id rather spend the money to help her than let her die. She never had a home and she came to us for one. We love her and we just want her to spend the rest of her life with us and not have to worry about shelter or food or medical help. The procedure is costly over $2000 and I’m worried about if it will be successful. What if she has complications after or what she doesn’t recover? My heart is breaking as I can’t imagine losing her, she’s a part of me.

Has anyone’s cat had this procedure done? Factor in their age, how did they respond to the surgery? Did they recover? Where their any complications?
