What do/did you feed your cats to ensure a long and healthy life?

Hello everyone!

I have adopted three cats last year. They are 11 months old now. Like all of you, I want to do everything possible to ensure a long and healthy life. For those of you who have successfully achieved that, what did you feed your cats? I would love to hear your suggestions. Also, please let me know if any other choices in their lifestyle made a positive difference.

A little background on my kitties' diet: We fed them Purina Essential Care wet/dry kitten formula until now. We are transitioning them to an adult diet. The vet has recommended Purina Essential Care Adult formula. However, I am reading mixed reviews about Purina, especially it looks like most people do not like the ingredients in this formula which are full of meat by-products and grains. Some others argue that Purina runs a lot of trials to make sure that the food is safe and adequate.

Currently, we are feeding them Tiki Cats After Dark shredded chicken and quail egg, chicken and duck, and Feline Natural chicken and venison wet food. Have you tried these brands? How do these compare to Purina Essential Care?

Thank you in advance!
