How do I get my friend to take better care of her pet?

I have a friend from high school who got a rabbit at a fair a few years ago (without thinking through what actually was involved in having a rabbit... which is a very immature thing to do). She claims she loves the rabbit although it lives in a cage that is much too small and hardly lets her out. Her rabbit has somehow escaped this cage multiple times, and roamed in the mess that is the guest room in her parents house where she still lives. The rabbit is in the hospital for the second time in its two years of living with my friend, because she ate a piece of a couch in the room. My friend never takes any responsibility for this, and says there is no way for her rabbit, Duchess, to have a larger cage such as a c&c cage. She claims she will eat any fleece, or hop over any height of a cage. I just find this hard to believe given that I've had guinea pigs for years that don't eat fleece (I know they are different from rabbits in that they can't jump high, but their living quarters are similar). Anyway, I can't stand knowing that this rabbit lives in a cage hardly big enough to walk in, and is being poorly taken care of by someone who is otherwise seemingly intelligent. Not to mention, my friend who (is in college) still lives with her parents yet doesn't have a job, so all of these vet bills are having to be paid for by her parents. They have money too, so there's no excuse for any of this.I can't stand being friends with people who are so ignorant. Does any of this qualify as abuse? I assume not since she is feeding it. I just wish there was something I could say to her.
