Basically my sister brought a kitten into my apartment, i already have a 2yo+ cat, both male, kitten is about 2 months old. The kitten was very tired at first having been at the vet for a few days and then travelling, so it was mostly sleeping. My older one seemed stressed out but not aggressive and didn't hiss. Then the kitten quickly recovered and got a lot of energy. It started going all over the place and my older cat was mostly watching him.
However he seemed stressed/scared, didn't sleep at his usual spots but instead was sleeping with me. Also didn't wanna play and sort of changed his usual personality and became more scared. He also didn't poop for like 2 or something. Also when the small one used his toilet he stopped going there.
2 days in a row it seemed like they were fighting a couple of times. It seemed like the small one was trying to attack him on his favorite places and push him out. The small one started getting in his face, arching its back and making this battle sound cats make when they will fight. My older one finally seemed to get angry and started putting his paw up like he will slap him and did it a few times. Then started biting the air in front of the small one, which was also trying to bite him. Then finally the small one lunged and bit him on the neck.
Now i've never had more than one cat before so me and my mom freaked out and thought the small one will get hurt. My sister temporarily took him to her place but she already has other pets and can't keep him there. There is a cat at her place that actually plays with the small one but my cat seems to just not want to interact with the small one at all.
I just don't know what to do. The small one i like a lot but my cat seems to be suffering a lot if he is around. The moment my sister took him my cat looked at me like he was thanking me. The small one seems pretty rough and brave while my old one is scared of most things and naps a lot.
Could my cat be having these issues temporarily or it could last forever? I'm going to have to look for another home for the small one if they don't get along.
