I took my 8-year-old Doberman to the veterinarian's office today. I noticed a fatty mass on his side a couple of months ago, he has been to the vet for his checkups and the vet didn't mention anything. Two weeks ago I noticed he developed a small lump on his leg, initially I thought he had been bitten by a mosquito or some other insect. I have been keeping an eye on it and decided to take him in for a checkup. The veterinarian wants to surgically remove both masses as she believes he is at risk due to his age.
I am not sure if I should get a second opinion or go ahead with the surgery, I want to provide him with the best care. I am not sure if cutting into him without performing other tests beforehand is necessary or if it is the best course of action.
Does anyone have advice?
