I have to travel a few hours by bus tomorrow morning (I can't afford the petrol to drive there) to get a root canal done. I was planning on staying at my mum's overnight, and catching the bus back home the next day, since the travel is so long and my friends from my mum's city wanted to catch up the morning before I went home.
However, my mum would only be able to pick me up from the dentist in the evening after she finishes work, and I can't exactly bring my cat to the dentist with me (no t that the bus company lets you bring pets anyway). She would have to stay at my house without me.
She's only just turned a year old, and because she was bottle fed from a few days old (her mum was shot by a farmer) she's very clingy and would miss me a lot. Not only that, but she is used to being given wet food every morning and evening (she grazes on dry foor during the day). Even if I left her plenty of dry food, she wouldn't understand why she is not being fed.
Basically, I don't want to cause her any unnecessary distress, so I'd probably have to come straight home after the root canal procedure to make sure I'm there for her overnight. But I have severe anxiety so I will be having multiple panic attack in the dentist chair over the 4 or so hours, and will therefore be exhausted and not want to travel for hours back home. Plus, I haven't seen my friends since I moved cities in January and I really miss them.
I don't know what to do. I feel really selfish for even considering leaving her home alone. She's my best friend and like my child to me (I know it sounds cliche but it's true). Plus, she's only a baby, just one year old, practically still a kitten.
I don't know what to do.
