I have an indoor outdoor cat who is under a year old. We were planning on getting her fixed soon but we realised she was pregnant. We decided to have her kittens then fix her. Our houses heating system stopped working right around the time she had given birth so it got pretty cold. I kept the kittens in a box with blankets and made sure it was a warm nest for them. I would wipe the crust off of their eyes. Something had felt off about the kittens at about 3 weeks when their eyes still appeared crusty and that 3rd week I noticed the mom has been spending less and less time with the kittens. I was out with friends one night while my husband watched over them. He broke the news to me that they all had died from what Sounded like fading kitten syndrome while I was gone. I can’t help but feel so guilty for not immediately taking action like fixing my heater or getting them checked right away. I’m not poor just financially tight and thought it wouldn’t be the worst thing to wait longer. I booked an appointment to get my cat fixed. Do I deserve to be a pet owner?
