I adopted a senior cat over the summer and he has always had an issue with throwing up his food at least once a day. He’s been eating senior cat food lately but still throws it up. My boyfriend is emetophobic so controlling my cats weak stomach is pretty important and has been an ongoing process. He did start to get better about it though and recently only lost his dinner like once a week. Last week I ran out of food and the store was out of his usual so I got him sensitive stomach food hoping it would help him keep it down. It does, he only threw up the first day after the switch and has not since, but his poop has smelled so bad it fills my entire apartment for at least half an hour and it’s almost unbearable. I’m not sure which is better for him, because at least now he can keep it down but it’s a truly extreme smell that is mildly concerning. He’s been all good weight and health wise at the latest vet trips. Just wondering if I should be worried that his poops suddenly originate from the deepest pits of hell. I’ll also note that before this he never had a strong smell even as a cat who does in fact pee and his litter box is pretty close to my living room.
