Is it normal for a kittens appetite to change as it grows up?

Me and my girlfriends kitten (~7 months old) has started eating less. I used to spread his food out during the day and at the next feeding time it would usually be all gone or at least mostly gone. I recently started feeding him a mix of wet and dry food (as I heard both had advantages, wet helps keep him hydrated, dry is good for keeping his teeth clean and healthy) and up until that point he was strictly dry food (maintaining brand and flavour that he was fed at the shelter). Hes not exhibiting lethargy or anything else else that would scream definite problem and result in a run down to the vet.

My assumption is that he just likes the wet food better and is... I guess protesting the dry food thinking I'll give him more of the wet food if he doesn't eat it. Does that sound reasonable? Is there something I can do to make the dry food more appealing to him?
