I have been looking into many animals as pets over the past 6 years, but now have the potential opportunity to finally get one. However, my mother is allergic to cats and dogs and has the misconception that they are harder to keep than every other animal. I am not going to argue with her or try to prove her wrong. However, I'm looking for an extremely affectionate animal I can interact with. I have clinical depression, OCD, and ADHD, and I get lonely a lot, and love animals. I have been looking into ferrets (I know they're extremely hard to keep, especially because they're illegal in many places) and some other animals. Right now, the top prospect for me is a pet chicken. Anybody have any other suggestions?
TLDR: Other than cats and dogs, what are some extremely affectionate pets?
