I said I'd do an update in case anyone else is going through this and also to get some updated opinions.
Firstly I wanted to say thank you to every single person that helped me out on the above thread. I didn't have the capacity to reply to all the comments, but I read every single one and took notes.
On to my kitty.
I requested the vet do one more urinalysis to be sure and she found crystals, so Oreo is now on a controlled diet. We also got Metacam anti-inflammatories and liquid Gabapentin. She's been on a steady combo of the above.
I mentioned in my first post that this all kicked off when we were having minor construction work done. That construction work coincided with a mini-heatwave. Then it went back to cold and rain (Ireland), but then about 2 weeks ago we started getting crazy high temperatures again so I had the idea that her tiny kitty brain connected heat and stress so we've been doing everything to keep her cool. (That may just be me reaching, but it didn't hurt to try)
We've also gone from one litterbox to 3, one upstairs, 2 downstairs. Hoping to reduce them back to 2 soon, but not going to rush it.
Finally, after she settled enough to let us pet her again we noticed some scars on her ears and head. She'd obviously gotten into a fight. (She's an indoor/outdoor cat) Then yesterday we actually saw her fighting and intervened. She was shaking and so spooked. I calmed her down and monitored her all day and she seemed fine apart from vomiting 3 times but I don't think that's fight-related as the first time was before it. We had experimented with introducing some dry foods back into her diet because she seems constantly hungry at the moment, but it wasn't very successful.
We've been limiting her to only going out early morning when it's cool so she was in for the rest of yesterday and went outside for 20 mins this morning. Since she's come back it's been constant meowing, grooming and peeing again so I'm thinking either she met the neighbour cat again or it's a latent reaction from yesterday.
We're thinking we may have to start making her be an indoor-only cat and I'm wondering the best way to go about this. The reason she isn't is due to the vet suggestion we let her go outdoors at the beginning because she was overgrooming due to stress from staying inside. I have tried every toy you can think of to keep her stimulated (catnip, cushions, lasers, feathers on sticks, balls, bottle tops, laces to name a few) and she won't play with anything so I don't want her getting bored and then stressing over that.
Any and all suggestions and opinions are welcome. My IRL (petless) friends don't really understand how this is affecting us so much because 'she's just a cat' so you lovely people have kind of become me confidantes and I appreciate that so so much. Thanks again!
