So a bit of context. I recently moved out and after getting adjusted, i've been looking into getting a little buddy. I've been doing my own research trying to figure out what to get. And i've been taking into account my own life style. To get an idea, I work 6 am to 4 pm Sunday-Wednesday and I live alone so something like a dog probably wouldn't be the best of ideas. I've thought about cats but i'm kinda allergic. Nothing super serious just some congestion but still.
I've decided that i'll look into getting a pair of Fancy rats. From my research, they seem kinda perfect for someone who works long hours but still has a decent amount of free time. Plus I rarely leave the apartment aside from grocery visits or going out to eat every couple of weeks so i'll be able to spend alot of time with them.
Now there's still some stuff I wanna know before I go all in.
- What's some basic tips I should know?
- What's a good brand of cage, accessories, etc in it?
- How should I go about rat proofing the place to keep them safe during out of cage time?
- Should I go to something like petco to get them or look around a bit? There's a reptile show here in Indy every now and then and I hear they may have some fancy rat breeders there
