I have a 3 year old cat who is very attached to me. He has never shown any aggressive behaviour before (in fact it is usually the opposite, he will run and hide under a bed of a stranger or noise scares him). Also I should note that he has not had much interaction with other cats.
Yesterday I brought home a young cat to foster for the next month as she needs medication multiple time’s a day. I have kept her in the guest bed room and have not let the cats see each other. However, my resident cat is now acting aggressively towards me. He will cautiously sniff me before getting into offensive posture, hissing, and then attacking/scratching me. He will also sometimes let out a yowling sound that I have never heard him make before.
I would appreciate any advice on how to ease/calm my resident cat. Is this behaviour ever going to subside?
As I need to medicate my foster throughout the day, I don’t know how it will be possible to not smell like her - she is very unwell but cuddly and will only take her medications if she is snuggled up on me!
